WASBE At The Midwest Clinic
The Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic (Chicago) will be held from December 16-20, 2008. This year WASBE will have its 2nd Annual Winter Members Meeting open to all members. We will use this “forum” to pass along information concerning ongoing work with the WASBE Board, to bring members up to date information on the 2009 Conference in Cincinnati, and to offer members a chance to ask questions and voice opinions. This meeting will take place just prior to our annual reception.
- WASBE Members Meeting: Wednesday, 17 December at 3:30 in the Hilton Hotel; Lake Michigan Room.
- WASBE Reception: Wednesday, 17 December at 5:30 in the Hilton Hotel; Buckingham’s on the main floor.
- The WASBE Booth will be #908 in the Southwest Hall. This is a great place to visit and to pay your membership dues for 2009.
September Newsletter Now Available
Members can download the September WASBE Newsletter effective immediately. You should receive the printed version in the mail in early November. We apologize for the delay.
International Youth Wind Orchestra (IYWO)
Application information for the IYWO that will be performing at the 14th WASBE International Conference in Cincinnati next summer is now available on the Conference website. This very special experience will include working on some of the world’s greatest wind music with three legendary conductors: Frank Battisti, Donald Hunsberger and H. Robert Reynolds. Students between the ages of 18 and 25 are encouraged to make application before the January 12, 2009 deadline (this is a revised deadline). You will find information regarding application procedures, housing, the conductors, repertoire and a history of IYWO on the Conference web site: www.wasbe2009.com.
WASBE Members and prospective attendees should note that there is a great deal of new information available on the Conference web site, including online registration, accommodation, travel, facilities and the Fringe Festival.
Take Our Membership Survey
A new WASBE Membership Survey (English, Español) has been designed by our Secretary, James Ripley, and we would like to encourage you to take a few minutes to fill it out. Since the Survey is available only to WASBE members, you will need your membership number and password. If you have forgotten your membership number or password, you will find it on the receipt for your dues payment or you can get it from the WASBE Treasurer, Marianne Halder.
