The 29^th Biennial International Society for Music Education (ISME) World Conference will be held in Beijing, China from the 1^st to the 6^th of August, 2010 at the China National Convention Centre and China Conservatory of Music. The conference theme is “Harmony and the World Future.” Based on the conference theme, music educators will discuss how to enhance communication and understanding between different nations, cultures, genders and different groups at this conference. The 13^th Annual International Youth Band Festival will be held from the 25^th to the 29^th of August, 2010 in Echedoros, Greece. The festival is open to youth concert bands, marching bands, big bands, and percussion ensembles with a minimum of fifteen players and a maximum of forty-five. However, the organizer is looking for an outstanding march band of larger size and would provide more accommodations. All groups play daily concerts and participate in a parade on the final day. The 4^th Annual International Competition for Wind Orchestras will be held at the Concert Hall in Velenje, Slovenia from the 7^th to the 10^th of October, 2010. Every third year, Slovenian Fund for Cultural Activities and Slovenian Wind Orchestras Society organize an international competition for wind orchestras in concert performances and until now the competitions have been in Koper, Velenje, and Novo mesto, with participation of 41 Wind Orchestras from 9 different countries. The 4^th Annual Lago di Garda Music Festival will be held at the Lake Garda in Riva del Garda, Italy from the 14^th to the 18^th of October, 2010. 4th International Festival of Choirs and Symphony and Wind Orchestras on Lake Garda, Italy- the most Mediterranean lake of all Italian Alpine lakes - offers a spectacle of natural brightness and colours which makes it a unique holiday destination for all seasons. Visitors are impressed by villages with historic buildings that create a fascinating area for the Music Festival. The 2^nd Annual Wind Orchestra of Latin America (Orquesta Latinamericano de Vientos) - OLV will be held in Manizales, Colombia from the 27^th of October to the 7^th of November, 2010. The OLV is a prestigious symphonic band of 60 instrumentalists of the highest musical level along with two young directors selected from all Latin American countries. The 39^th Annual Certamen Internacional de Bandes de Música Vila d’Altea will take place on the 4^th and 5^th of December, 2010 at the Palau Altea Centre d’Arts in Altea, Spain. The contest is open to non-professional symphonic bands, which may compete in one of two categories: bands of 85 players or less, and bands of between 85 and 130 musicians. The test piece for bands of 85 player of less is Libertadores, by Óscar Navarro González. The test piece for bands of more than 85 players is Venus de las luces, symphony no. 2, by José Suñer Oriola. The 4^th Annual Torreviejo International Certamen for Bands, Torrevieja 2010 will be held at the Municipal Theater of Torrevieja in Torrevieja (Allicante) Spain on the 11^th of December, 2010. Foreign and Spanish bands may apply to participate. The number of musicians may be between 65 and 90. The required work will be “Caastelo do Inferno” de Ferrer Ferrán. The 9^th Annual New York Wind Band Festival will be held at the Carnegie Hall in New York City, NY from the 5^th to the 9^th of March, 2011. The New York Wind Band Festival highlights fine wind ensembles from around the world, admitted by audition, in an Adjudicated Afternoon Concert and an Evening Showcase Concert at the world-famous Carnegie Hall. The festival also features an Outdoor Performance for all ensembles, a Dinner/Dance cruise along the Hudson River, and group workshops with Festival Faculty. The 1^st Annual International Tuba Competition will be held at the Château de Ville d’Avray in Paris, France on the 12^th and 13^th of March, 2011. 1st Round: 1/ Handel: Concert, 2/ Penderecki: Capriccio, 3/ Broughteon: Sonata. The 26^th Annual Pacific Basin Music Festival will be held at the Hawaii Theatre, Pacific Beach Ballroom, Ala Moana Center Stage, Central Union in Honolulu, Hawaii from the 19^th to the 26^th of March, 2011. The Pacific Basin Music Festival will highlight fine wind ensembles, orchestras, and choirs from around the world, admitted by audition, in Adjudicated and Showcase performances at the Hawaii Theatre, Pacific Beach Ballroom, and Central Union Church. The festival also features outdoor group performances, a full ensemble workshop with Festival Faculty, a reading exchange, a luau, dinner dance, Select Choir performance, and a visit to the Arizona Memorial. The 1^st Annual Chicago International Music Festival will be held at the Chicago Symphony Center – Armour Stage in Chicago, Illinois, April, 2011 from the 26^th to the 30^th of March, 2011. The Chicago International Music Festival will highlight fine wind ensembles, orchestras, and choirs from around the world, admitted by audition, in an Adjudicated Evening Showcase Concert on the Armour Stage at the prestigious Chicago Symphony Center, home to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The 6^th Annual Washington DC International Music Festival will be held at the The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., April, 2011 from the 15^th to the 19^th of April, 2011. The Washington DC International Music Festival will highlight fine wind ensembles, orchestras, and choirs from around the world, admitted by audition, in an Adjudicated Evening Concert at the world-famous Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The festival also features an Outdoor Performance at the Lincoln Memorial (tbc), a Dinner/Dance Cruise along the Potomac River, and a group workshop with Festival Faculty. The Annual International Wind Orchestra Festival Berlin 2011 will be held at the Concert Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie in Berlin, Germany from the 1^st to the 5^th of June, 2011. The annual International Wind Orchestra Festival Berlin 2011 will be held at the world famous concert hall of the Berlin Philharmonie on Saturday, the 4th of June 2011. Registration is open for wind orchestras categorized in Top or High Class. Closing date for registration is the 1st of October 2010. Extra Open Air Concert in Berlin is possible. The 5^th Annual Los Angeles International Music Festival will be held at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, California from the 19^th to the 23^rd of June, 2011. The Los Angeles International Music Festival highlights fine wind ensembles, orchestras, and choirs from around the world, admitted by audition, in an Adjudicated Afternoon Concert and an Evening Showcase Concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. The festival also features an Outdoor Performance at Disneyland, a Festival Dinner for all participants, and group workshops with Festival Faculty. The Artistic Director is Dr. Lawrence Sutherland. The 22^nd Annual Australian International Music Festival will be held at the Sydney Opera House, Angel Place City Recital Hall, and St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Sydney, Australia, July/July 2011 from the 27^th of June to the 4^th of July, 2011. The Australian International Music Festival will highlight fine wind ensembles, orchestras, and choirs from around the world, admitted by audition, in Adjudicated and Showcase performances at the Sydney Opera House, Angel Place City Recital Hall, and St. Andrew’s Cathedral. The festival also features an Outdoor Performance at Darling Harbour, workshops with Festival Faculty, a reading exchange for instrumental ensembles, a Massed Choir performance, and sightseeing activities. The Annual International Wind Band Contest “City of Valencia” will be held at the Palau de la Música, Plaza de Toros of Valencia in Valencia, Spain from the 2^nd to the 10^th of July, 2011. World Competition Wind Bands Concert organized by Valencia City Council – Spain. First and Second weekend in July. Four sections, Third, Second, First and Honour by the number of musicians. Required works: a compulsory piece, a work of free choice and a paso doble. Also participating bands invited. Significant prize money. Financial assistance to bands to participate.
