The 29th Biennial International Society for Music Education (ISME) World Conference will be held in Beijing, China from the 1st to the 6th of August, 2010 at the China National Convention Centre and China Conservatory of Music. The conference theme is “Harmony and the World Future.” Based on the conference theme, music educators will discuss how to enhance communication and understanding between different nations, cultures, genders and different groups at this conference. They will also discuss how to promote a more harmonious global development with harmonious music. For more information:

The 13th Annual International Youth Band Festival will be held from the 25th to the 29th of August, 2010 in Echedoros, Greece. The festival is open to youth concert bands, marching bands, big bands, and percussion ensembles with a minimum of fifteen players and a maximum of forty-five. However, the organizer is looking for an outstanding march band of larger size and would provide more accommodations. All groups play daily concerts and participate in a parade on the final day. The 4th Annual International Competition for Wind Orchestras will be held at the Concert Hall in Velenje, Slovenia from the 7th to the 10th of October, 2010. Every third year, Slovenian Fund for Cultural Activities and Slovenian Wind Orchestras Society organize an international competition for wind orchestras in concert performances and until now the competitions have been in Koper, Velenje, and Novo mesto, with participation of 41 Wind Orchestras from 9 different countries. The 4th Annual Lago di Garda Music Festival will be held at the Lake Garda in Riva del Garda, Italy from the 14th to the 18th of October, 2010. 4th International Festival of Choirs and Symphony and Wind Orchestras on Lake Garda, Italy- the most Mediterranean lake of all Italian Alpine lakes - offers a spectacle of natural brightness and colours which makes it a unique holiday destination for all seasons. Visitors are impressed by villages with historic buildings that create a fascinating area for the Music Festival. The 2nd Annual Wind Orchestra of Latin America (Orquesta Latinamericano de Vientos) - OLV will be held in Manizales, Colombia from the 27th of October to the 7th of November, 2010. The OLV is a prestigious symphonic band of 60 instrumentalists of the highest musical level along with two young directors selected from all Latin American countries. The 39th Annual Certamen Internacional de Bandes de Música Vila d’Altea will take place on the 4th and 5th of December, 2010 at the Palau Altea Centre d’Arts in Altea, Spain. The contest is open to non-professional symphonic bands, which may compete in one of two categories: bands of 85 players or less, and bands of between 85 and 130 musicians. The test piece for bands of 85 player of less is Libertadores, by Óscar Navarro González. The test piece for bands of more than 85 players is Venus de las luces, symphony no. 2, by José Suñer Oriola. The 4th Annual Torreviejo International Certamen for Bands, Torrevieja 2010 will be held at the Municipal Theater of Torrevieja in Torrevieja (Allicante) Spain on the 11th of December, 2010. Foreign and Spanish bands may apply to participate. The number of musicians may be between 65 and 90. The required work will be “Caastelo do Inferno” de Ferrer Ferrán. The New York Wind Band Festival highlights fine wind ensembles from around the world, admitted by audition, in an Adjudicated Afternoon Concert and an Evening Showcase Concert at the world-famous Carnegie Hall. The festival also features an Outdoor Performance for all ensembles, a Dinner/Dance cruise along the Hudson River, and group workshops with Festival Faculty. The 6th Annual Washington DC International Music Festival will be held at the The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., April, 2011 from the 15th to the 19th of April, 2011. The Annual International Wind Orchestra Festival Berlin 2011 will be held at the Concert Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie in Berlin, Germany from the 1st to the 5th of June, 2011. The annual International Wind Orchestra Festival Berlin 2011 will be held at the world famous concert hall of the Berlin Philharmonie on Saturday, the 4th of June 2011. Registration is open for wind orchestras categorized in Top or High Class. Closing date for registration is the 1st of October 2010. Extra Open Air Concert in Berlin is possible. The Annual International Wind Band Contest “City of Valencia” will be held at the Palau de la Música, Plaza de Toros of Valencia in Valencia, Spain from the 2nd to the 10th of July, 2011. World Competition Wind Bands Concert organized by Valencia City Council – Spain. First and Second weekend in July. Four sections, Third, Second, First and Honour by the number of musicians.
