The 7th Annual Jungfrau Music Festival will be held in Interlaken, Switzerland from the 4th to the 11th of July, 2009. The programme includes performances by the Swiss Army Big Band, National Youth Fanfare Orchestra (Netherlands), Brass Band Bernese Oberland (Switzerland), Mnozil Brass (Austria) and Swiss Army Symphonic Band. Also included will be a Conducting Masterclass with Philippe Bach (Switzerland) and a Trumpet Masterclass with Bill Williams (USA). For more information:

Supported by WASBEThe 14th Biennial WASBE International Conference will be held at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio from the 5th to the 11th of July, 2009. The Conference will include clinics, a trade exhibition, and concerts by bands from all over the world and will be held in conjunction with the National Band Association and the Conductors Guild. The 4th Biennial Sinnai International Wind Band Competition in collaboration with the Musical Association "G. Verdi" will be held at the Municipal Theater in Sinnai, Italy from the 15th to the 19th of July, 2009. The contest is open to non-professional wind bands, which may compete in three categories according to the ages of the participants. Each band must perform a test piece and a work of their own selection of the same grade of difficulty. The international jury consists of Andrè Waignein (B)-president, Franco Arrigoni (I), Luca Mangini (I). Prizes will be awarded to the first two groups classified in the respective sections: 1st: Travel in Austria, 2nd: Participation in Training Courses. For more information:

The 1st Annual Võsu Viis Music Festival and Summer Academy for Wind Players, Singers and Conductors will be held in Võsu, Estonia from the 15th to the 19th of July, 2009. Clinicians include Bert Langeler (Netherlands), Endel Nõgene (Estonia), Kaido Otsing (Estonia) and Valdo Rüütelmaa (Estonia). A Gala Concert will be held in Tartu to close the festival. The 4th Annual Saxophone Festival of Buenos Aires will be held in San Telmo, Buenos Aires, Argentina from the 22nd to the 27th of July, 2009. The festival will present outstanding artists from Uruguay and Argentina with soloists, quartets and ensembles and will include master classes, workshops, clinics, concerts and 2 expositions. The Annual International Orkesterkamp (Orchestra Camp) will be held at the Auditorium Portoroz in Ljubljana, Slovenia from the 24th to the 29th of August, 2009. The Senior Wind Orchestra will be conducted by Douglas Bostock; the Junior Wind Orchestra will be conducted by Simon Percic. Soloists are Betka Bizjak Kotnik (sax). Mentors include also; Lázsló Seeman - Horn, Dušan Sodja - Clarinet, Mirko Orlač - Trombone/Euphonium/Tuba, Irena Rovtar - Flute, Matevž Bajde - Percussion, Jože Bogolin - Marimba.This year's highlight is the conducting course featuring Douglas Bostock (see the Conducting Seminars list for details). The Annual International Wind Orchestra Festival Berlin will be held at the Admiralspalast in Berlin, Germany from the 12th to the 16th of May, 2010. The competition is exclusively for wind orchestra and harmonie orchestra. All musicians must be active members of the orchestra. Orchestras can apply to compete in three categories. The 11th Annual International Youth Music Festival Purmerade 2010 will be held in Purmerend, Holland from the 14th to the 18th of July, 2010. During the Purmerade, clinics will be organised for various instruments and instrument groups. The Purmerade jury consists of a renowned and professional international team. The 3rd Annual Singapore International Band Festival will be held at the Republic Cultural Center Theater and Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore from the 21st to the 26th of July, 2010. WBASingapore (formerly WASBE Singapore) sponsors this event which includes Competition, International Band Exchange, workshops, and Outreach Programme. The Open Division 1st Prize is S$19,000.
