Conference Reporters Wanted
Daily reports from the biennial WASBE Conference have been one of the WASBE Web Site’s finest achievements. With the assistance of a number of volunteer writers and the cooperation of the respective Local Organizing Committees, John Stanley and Anthony Reimer have compiled and posted reports, reviews and photos from the Conference since the 2003 Conference in Jönköping, Sweden. Not only has this coverage been a great way to spread the word about the Conference at the time, it has provided us an historical archive of each of these conferences (you can view these archives on the WASBE web site). We aim to make our coverage of the Conference as complete as possible.
The web team is very grateful for all the members who have assisted us in the past by writing reports and/or reviews of sessions and/or concerts while at the Conference. Would you be interested in being one of those contributors this year? Most writers contribute a couple of pieces during the week, so the time commitment is not onerous. The style can be formal or more like a “blog” — both of these contributions help give readers a sense of the event, so they are equally acceptable. (If you are keeping your own blog, we may link to it if you let us know.) While most of the articles are posted in English, we are very willing to post original articles in other languages as well. We are also hoping to bring back the WASBE Conference Podcast, so if you have skills in that regard, you could also be a valuable contributor.
If you plan to attend the Conference in Cincinnati and are interested in becoming one of our writers on-site, please send an e-mail message to me at wasbe [at] jazzace.ca. When you write, let me know whether or not you will be bringing a laptop computer with you and which dates you will be in attendance at the Conference. We look forward to having you on our WASBE web team.
