An Overview

The World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles promotes music for winds at its highest possible level throughout the world. It unites people involved in professional, military, community and educational music for winds in an effort to share ideas and develop quality performances of quality music. The WASBE Schools Network is committee of WASBE and as such, aspires to these ideals while serving the educational community.

The WASBE Schools Network has undertaken to encourage the best composers in the world to write quality music for developing musicians. This committee and its first commission was initiated by Timothy Reynish of the Royal Northern College of Music in England. Mr. Reynish went on to become president of WASBE and remains actively interested in encouraging music for developing musicians. He was responsible for Aue! by Christopher Marshall, the first WSN Commission in 2000.
